Compassion for All Living Beings is a member group—a Cooperation Circle or “CC”—of  the United Religions Initiative. The Preamble to URI’s Charter reads: “We, people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions throughout the world, hereby establish the United Religions Initiative to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings.”
While animal protection is at the heart of our work, we also care deeply about human well-being and that of the Earth’s diverse living ecosystems.
We keenly recognize the disconnect between talk about compassion and the way most animals are actually treated. We therefore work to put an end to the disrespect, violence, and needless killing of animals, as well as practices that endanger entire species.

Our major focus is on advocating a vegan lifestyle free of all animal products and exploitation. In addition to dramatically reducing the suffering of fellow sentient beings, a vegan way of life promotes human health, makes ending world hunger achievable, protects biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and eliminates the need for dehumanizing jobs in animal agriculture.
